Friday Faves

Today, for my Friday Faves, I want to share that Minx and Wild is finally opening a tiny little storefront this December! It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid to own my own store front. I never knew what I would be selling, but here we are...I will be selling my own jewelry designs, plus partnering with local artists and my friend, Dan's beautiful crystals and fossils. To celebrate this opening I am throwing a party at the store on Dec. 7th from 5-8 pm. There will be complimentary food and beverages, plus I am working out the details for a raffle or giveaway. Dan and I love animals, so for every purchase made 5% will be donated to help him care for the feral cats that live around the storefront. Surprisingly, Fort Worth has a high feral cat rate, so he tries to trap/neuter them and if they are kittens he tries to find them loving homes. Feel free to donate canned cat food, litter or blankets at anytime!

My goal for owning a business and a storefront is to have a creative space for others. I want them to come into my shop and feel inspired. Creativity is a way that I work with magic. In my mind when I am creating I often feel connected to another part of me (psychologists would probably call this the subconscious) an area that I can only reach when meditating or becoming completely connected to a project. I lose myself in the process and can only focus on the task at hand. When I finish it's like a fog is slowly lifted and I come back to reality. It's a weird sensation but it tells me that I am connecting to my life's work and what provides me the greatest level of joy. So, being able to share this with you and have a place for people to congregate is a dream come true.

Once I get settled with a working schedule, right now I'm leaning towards appointments only during the week and store hours during the weekends, I want to host workshops there as well as yoga and maybe some pop ups with other local vendors.

I didn't see myself doing this a year ago, it was only a someday dream but here we are and I am so excited to see where this next year takes me.

Currently Reading: Women Who Run With Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés
I started reading this book about a year ago, but it's one that I keep by my side because it is so relevant to what women go through on a daily basis. Whether it's relationships with themselves, men or society it discusses how women have lost touch to their intuitive nature because of conditioning and it reminds us of how to tap back into it.

Current Favorite Jewelry: Smoky Quartz & Turquoise Drop Earrings these are new and something I made for tomorrow's show at the Camp Bowie Fall Festival + Makers Market . I love these earrings because the smoky quartz removes negativity, grounds you and the turquoise provides healing properties. They would also make a killer statement as holiday earrings for any parties this upcoming season!

Current Favorite Self-Care routine: Breathwork! Something I learned in yoga class, this has really helped me when my anxiety comes out to play. This past week with the New Moon in Scorpio and Mercury Retrograde my emotions have been all over the place and have left me questioning a lot of relationships, integrity and generally WTF I'm doing with my life. So, to calm myself down and get centered again I have been doing breath of fire and the box breathing. Breath of Fire is where you inhale and exhale quickly, you're doing it so fast that your brain is forced to focus on this one task which kills any negative thoughts or anxiety. In fact I end up smiling because there is nothing else you can do with this exercise, but smile. Then the box breathing is basically where you inhale for a count of 4-8 and exhale the equal amount of time and with your eyes closed you can envision yourself drawing a box with your breath. These exercises will definitely come in handy in the next couple of months!

I hope to see some of you guys this weekend at the festival!
